The Role of Central Bankers in Financial Markets

I think the role of central banks in markets is changing. They used to be seen as guardians of financial stability, they would cut interest rates when something went wrong and that's changed. Now people are blaming central bankers for inflation, which probably they didn't really cause. You know, if we get to the point where an inflation problem becomes a persistently persistent problem, then you're going to have to do something about it. I wouldn't lose their independence because i don't believe this world exists any more. And there is an environment in which the central bankers will begin to take away from them.
