The Language of Hikers
Hikers have their own subculture complete with language and customs. The Appalachian Trail goes from the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It takes people five or six months to do this 2,000-mile route. "It was like entering this entire new food universe," says author Dan Rivers.
