In each of these passages, a spirit rua is sent from god, and that spirit affects an individual or group meer an individual or a group an adverse way. Are these descriptions best understood as god in some way affecting the internal state of mind of the individuals in view? Or are they best understood as despatching a disembodied entity to affect behavior?
