Is Heparin a Good Diuretic?
In the early 1960s, there weren't a lot of great diuretic options available. Furosemide was still in development and I think that came out in the mid 1960s. A case series from 1960 reported the results of using heparin deliberately as a diuretic in 29 hypervolemic patients. And amazingly, almost all of the patients in this study achieved diuresis while on heparin.
