Queer and Trans Black Leadership

This is not the first time we've had queer and trans leadership. It's just the first time it's really quite open and actually acknowledged as a key part of the political vision that people are fighting for. The movement for black lives has made black feminism LGBTQ politics, disability justice as really critical to what's defined as black freedom or black liberation. That's something that's new. And this is what Barbara Smith always meant by identity politics. So I think that's what black feminism kind of brought. These with the Combahee River Collective and other organizations really brought to the table. They also brought an economic analysis. Those were the core organizations that opened a door for re-educating
