Is It Always Wrong to Lies?

Kant: "I would say 99% of the instances, it's wrong to lie" But there are going to be sometimes it's a gray area. If someone came in here looking for you and my only option was to lie, I probably would, but I don't know if I should. He says he might not be culpable for a serious lie.
