How Much Can Be Learned About Writing?
If you want to be a writer as in Hemingway, drinking gin and flying back and forth to Paris has nothing to do with writing. I love that invocation of metaphor. A lot of the devices in language impress upon me. But it's not an ideological expression. It's more just in the language itself. That metaphor, for instance, is something that connects not only us, but connect whatever we're talking about to the whole natural world. And so I love that about language. Also includes within it an understanding of how dependent we are, interdependent we are as a species. To approach experience, however, is not like approaching a house.
