i think it's a mistake to view the fierceness of his opinions as a polemasis ye. He could only olay the literetarian side of it, and couldn't appreciate that he was actually creating a system in which kirk's traditionalism could thrive. Even people he disagreed with, hetended to stay on pretty good terms with them. I hadn't quite thought of it in those precise terms before. But one of the really striking things when you read about myer from other people in the conservative movement who were contemporaries, who knew him, is that he's not wilmore kendall right.
