The grand arme was organized to wage war on a tremendous scale, at speeds that were previously thought impossible. Austerlitz revealed that contrast in stark detail. The french had always seemed to know what they were doing, and the allies always seemed to be scrambling and improvising. But it begs the question, how many men could napoleon afford to lose before this incredible army began to decline like a vinal record? i think the grand arme lost something intangible with these casualties.
