The Prince's Concert in Funganui

Charles Mackey was right at the centre of this row. The Funganui RSA basically decided that if they weren't invited to the official celebration they'd organise their own concert. After the official welcome the Prince headed off to the soldiers concert. An Australian reporter covering the world tour described it like this: A sea was set representing an oasis in the desert. Civil performers dressed as Arabs sang old ballads such as Bedouin love songs, introduced personalities and made jokes about beer. And so there was some poor dancing.
