Orangutan Escapes From a Circus
An orangutan had recently escaped from a traveling circus that had come through the town of Ballinger, Texas. The story goes that they got a big group of men together and they were able to capture this orangutan and get it back to the circus. Originally appearing in the Wheeling Register of West Virginia on September 21, 1882. And also featured in Adam Benedict's book, Monsters in Print,. A collection of curious creatures known mostly from newspapers. Page 92: Gyasticus loose in the woods of northern Pennsylvania.
