The Brewer's Wife of a Brewer
The big ones could carry up to 400 men and 30 cannons almost as big as the USS Constitution. Women served on these boats alongside their husbands. The same thing operated in medieval times in Europe in certain trades. If the husband died, the wife could become a member of the guild.
