Faulkner's Childhood in Mississippi

William Faulkner was born a year after the Supreme Court legalized racial segregation in Plessy v Ferguson. At least 293 black people were lynched in Mississippi in the 1890s and 1900s. The third William Faulkner is the one who wrestled with this in his fiction and in himself. He knew where he should be. And he knew where some part of him was.
