Everything exists insofar as it participates in some serial system of language. A thing exists only when it can reproduce itself, only when it perceives itself as its own reproduction. When we humans start to internalize this way of thinking, we start to perceive ourselves as measurable units in a system. And then we become what he calls abstract general entities.
