The Longshan Period: Evidence for Human Sacrificiation
At least 13,000 and 52 people sacrificed for ritual purposes in Shang china. No evidence that these corpses were treated like the honored ancestors who were buried under the floors of neolithic houses,. Those remains were venerated. They were adorned and respected in a number of ways. In the late longshan period, by contrast, these dead were simply incorporated into the fabric of the new buildingLike many other building material, trodden under foot for generations afterward.
