Mindfulness can help people get out of an anxious state, says Dr Richard Branson. By getting them into a neutral mind set they are more suggestible and able to see solutions rather than problems. People who have never done any mindfulness work usually just start with some simple conscious breathing exercises. We know that by getting somebody to focus on breath and shift their attention or their awareness away from, you know, this problem mind set it's easier for us to help them shift there.
