The Shards Exist Mostly in the Spiritual Realm

We know that most of the shards exist mainly in the spiritual realm. It seems like one of odium's plan is to destroy the physical and cognitive realms, possibly to take the power from thespiritual realm. Some characters and some powers of investiture allow access or pull power from the spiritual realm; we don't know if this will happen a hundred percent.
