Is Matthew Botching the New Testament?
Matthew is not botching the New Testament, he's not goofing his way through the book. What he does is he wants to show that Jesus will fill the scriptures. He says, this happened in order to fulfill what was spoken up by the prophet. And so for example, Jesus goes down to Egypt as an instant in Matthew's gospel. Then Joseph and Mary bring him back up after Herod's death. But we're coming out of Egypt, is there?
