The Origins of the Word Like
Like is such a fascinating word because talk about chameleon. You know, like has had many, many different forms and shapes over the centuries. We see it first in about the 1200s used as mainly a verb and an adjective. And then we see it around the 1500s start to expand into prepositional and some conjunctive uses. It existed in English for hundreds of years prior to that used in pretty much the same way.
