Can I Get the Wound Wet?
Aftercare instructions have always been a bit of a second thought to me. The evidence here is amazingly sparse, so the Cochrane review on this topic found only one trial. There's another very small RCT from the 1980s that seems to contradict itself. In 1988, the Maple Leafs team doctor wrote a letter to the editor saying that cleaning wounds with soap and water just makes physiologic sense.
