Are the French in Northern Mali?
There's a lot of anti french sentiment, suspicion of the french role. People have argued that france is interested in controlling resources in northern mali. I'm not sold on any of that, because i think it's partly about power projection. The french feel that they want amenable governments across the region. They see it arim, even in a possessive way, as cana, as canon berson. And sometimes the french describe it an very sort of black and white moralistic struggle.
