In the mid-1800s, a rapidly spreading fungus decimated Ireland's potato crops over the course of seven years. The Choctaw Nation sent $170, the equivalent of almost $6,000 today to starving Irish families. Today, almost two centuries later, the Irish people are repaying that kindness by raising money to aid Native American tribes suffering from the COVID pandemic.
