The Little Brown Dog, How We Hate Thee
In 1906, at the behest of locals, a memorial statue was erected in Battersea Park. This statue was meant to honor this dog that had suffered so much. But not everyone felt good about it. The university college London students started attacking it. They poured red paint over it. And they said, ha,. ha, ha, he, he,he, little brown dog, how we hate thee. Meanwhile, locals who had raised funds for this dog did not take too kindly to these students attacking their new statue. It hit the newspapers. The public were furious and they all raised money to cover the money that had to be paid to Dr. Bayless.
