Churtich, Chinnorich, and the West Saxons

Churtich and Chinnorich are now the leaders of the West Saxons. The year is 519-ish. And then we have another 8 years of peace, or at least silence,. Then they fought with the Brits at Churtich's lay. Three years later, three years later, Churtich and the WestSaxons conquered the Isle of Wight in 530. But given the scope of time and the gigantic periods of silence, he just doesn't seem like a particularly ruthless or warlike leader - does he?
