The Importance of Relative Strength
Tech stocks tend to be more volatile than the market, and they usually have a beta greater than one. So for example, if the S&P goes up one, typically these tech stocks will go up one and a half or two. If your stock typically goes up twice the market, well, if the stock today is up only one-and-a-half times the market, sure, it's advancing. It's advancing more than the market but it's still advancing slower than it should be.
