Next JS will only send the output over the wire not necessarily even requiring rehydration or at least not in the sense that it used to before. This makes initial loads much faster as less supporting code needs to be sent over the wire before your app can be used. The team has also created essentially a static version of React that can be sent to the client and cached by it further speeding up subsequent loads.
