The Importance of Being Informed
It does feel like individually, we don't have a lot of agency over the sorts of futures we're going to get. I think potentially one of the most important things is keeping some of those folks in check, some of the time. It can be a somewhat ineffectual nudge sometimes because we're suffering from a deluge of information. But informed enough, I think, to understand the correct place of existential risks in policy and in democratic systems could make a difference. The future is not a thing that we do. It's a thing that happens to us.
