The Relation Between Water and Substances Dissolved in It
More than a definite quantity of a substance cannot dissolve in a given quantity of water. The excess does not unite with the water. How substances which diffuse slowly and do not crystallize are colloids, that is, resemble glue,. And penetrate through a membrane slowly and form jellies. That is, occur in insoluble forms as will be explained in speaking of silica.
