Stoicism assumes a real world exists. The stoics assume that the real world is intelligible. A cosmic nature develops our human excellence, our virtuea brings about the experience of well being or good flow in our lives. Alternatively, assent to value judgments about events create bad emotions. Can we trust our senses to accurately present external events to our minds? There is no agreement on these questions. Iam going to travel down the epistemological rabbit hole in this podcast.
This podcast episode provides a new theoretical foundation for my previous blog post on The Discipline of Assent, which is being completely updated for the release of Episode 9 of Stoicism on Fire. Make sure to come back for the next episode where the spiritual exercise of the Discipline of Assent will build upon the theory of this episode.
