The Importance of Creating a Safe Space

The idea of a safe space is both very regularly associated with queer communities and also weaponized by the right. The organizers received these violent messages on Facebook, from right-wing groups who said they were going to do something violent at the event. And so hours before the event, the organizers decided, I think it's better to be safe and sorry, and they decided to cancel it.
