The Greeks Didn't Expect a Morally Superior Hero

Aristotle is not very prim or prudish in his expectations about a hero's, well, hero's ability to consistently keep the Ten Commandments. The keyword would be someone with a superior Arete which another one of those variously translated Greek words but someone with more heroic dignity. So Ege-Memnon or Edupus or Ajax can be the hero of a tragedy because their accomplishments are out of the ordinary run of common men. However a clown, some ignorant drunk who hangs out at the local tavern and says funny bone headed things, that's not the stuff of which tragedy can be made.
