The Game Board Is a Microcosm
The board as a whole can be thought of as a map of the cosmos. Squares are stages of existence and it is also all the different possibilities of action that you find within the universe. Each square represents something that is reflected in the macrocosm of the universe. And if you look at the old Indian Gantropa boards, each square in the central column represents one of the seven worlds that are stacked one atop the other.
