Introduction
A software glitch took down the near infrared imager and slitless spectrograph, or NEAR-US. This is the second time that an instrument on board JWST had gone offline for some period of time. Engineers were able to dig into the problem and figure out what had gone wrong. The answer was a galactic cosmic ray.
