Frick's Life Intersects With Carnegie

Frick was obsessed with work and reaching his goal of making a million dollars. He showed an amazing ability to work long hours in difficult environments. Frick realized early on that the long-term winner would be the most cost-efficient operation. In 1871, Frick had 200 out of the 550 Koch ovens in Connesville area and about 1200 nationwide. Carnegie studied other people like Rockefeller and Jones and he was obsessed with what we now call vertical integration.
