Embracing Suffering, Going to Martyrdom
In the Golden Legends, a 12th century document, Saint Clement of Rome is told about his martyrdom. He was killed by two lions and left for dead in an area known as Sigalaria. His bones are now buried under the high altar at Pope's church in Rome. "No power visible or invisible must grudge me coming to Jesus Christ," he writes.
