The History of the CPS

The CPS was set up following the Philips Royal Commission in 1986. The police were prosecuting most of their own cases at the time. Alison Saunders says it is her job to filter cases before they go to courts. She has worked for Lloyd's Insurance Corporation as an employed barrister. But she wanted to work on the prosecution side, rather than defence.
