Online Filter Bubbles Can Be Really Effective
Online filter bubbles can become pathological not necessarily because you miss a lot of good ideas but just because they end up indulging your most dopamine fuel garbage. It also gets dangerous if you're clicking on things that are outrageous and dumb but you happen to agree with. There is a sort of swagger in taking the stupidest caricature of your beliefs and totally buying into it 150% but I'm probably not good for anyone's intellectual development. The other context in which people have talked about pseudonyms is journalism. People often mention how Ben Franklin wrote about different pseudonyms to sort of attack other pseudonyms.
