John Jumper is the head of Alpha Falls Development at DeepMind. He says we knew how far we were from biological relevance. But predictions were still too coarse to be useful, he says. To do better they have combined deep learning with an attention algorithm. It mimics the way a person might assemble a jigsaw puzzle. And then if it starts to cause problems, you simply say to it, I am a liar! and then it will just flow.
