In the culporit world, one of the problems has been flagged is since you had companies encouraged to get al women on boards in the u k. What you found was that they were putting them in non executive rolls, so they don't sort of have a day to day roll running the company. Has a similar thing happened in iceland, where you get a privileged few who may sit on many boards. And these people may be brilliant at doing that, but it's not actually changing the way companies a run fundamentally, i think. E not to that same extent. We still need to see more women on boards.
'Sprakkar' is an ancient Icelandic word meaning extraordinary or outstanding women. It forms the basis of the new book by Eliza Reid, author and co-founder of the Iceland Writers Retreat, who is also the nation's First Lady. Rosamund Urwin from the Sunday Times joins Eliza to discuss the book, which tells the stories of Iceland’s women and also the country’s efforts to elevate them while striving for increased gender equality.
