The idea that this father or mother to whom you looked for advice or counsel or comfort or a sense of normalty, that person is gone and they're not coming back. And it feels almost like, especially people with adult parents who have sort of lost the thread,. It feels like they have to do this kind of humpty dumpty exercise where they've got to look at their parents as a set of component parts. The tricky part is, you can compartmentalize people's views. I think the problem that i've seen, also in people that i know, is even that virtue can become a vice.
