Colonial Suppression and Post-Colonial Dominance

The chapter discusses a pattern seen in former French colonies, where the colonists would promote an ethnic group that had been suppressed, giving them power and education. However, when the colonizers left, the formerly dominant group would assert their dominance in a brutal manner. This pattern is also seen in Afghanistan with the restoration of the Pashtun.
