Does It Help Children Develop Self-Control?

Many psychologists believe that the inner voice is actually central to how we learn to control ourselves. And so one of the key ways that we learn self-control is through the interactions we have with our parents, where our parents or caretakers tell us what to do and what not to do. It becomes a silent inner monologue where we are directing ourselves, so to speak, privately. That then becomes a tool that some psychologists and scientists myself think that we rely on throughout our lives as a very powerful tool.
