i want to say a little bit about the structure of the future and how people can think about the future. And you can think of it, i think, most simply, as being determinate or indeterminate. An optimistic future is one where you believe things will be better than the present on whatever axis defines better. A pessimistic future is onewhere you think things will generally be worse. But depending on which quadrant you believe is basically correct leads to some very different approaches that you pursue in terms of how you think about your life.
