The Order of St. John in Malta

Malta seemed like a desolate place to Jean, but it would be his home for the rest of his life. As much as the setting and the mission were unfamiliar to Jean, the company wasn't. The men he met in the ramshackle barracks of the tumble-down castle of Sant'Angelo were much like him. They were all concerned with, obsessed even with their honor and status. Still, all of them were more familiar than the brother Sargents who didn't have such noble blood.
