The Difference Between Intelligence and Factor Analysis

G is what we get from a statistical procedure called factor analysis. The same ability that causes someone to do well on, for example, a vocabulary test also helps them to do better on a 3D rotation task. G is just this term we get to this general factor. If it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck, walks like a duck,. it's probably intelligence. And so I use the terms interchangeably in most of the book. But I recognize that I have colleagues who disagree with that.
