The Transition to the Progressive Caucus

The progressive caucus that you both lead has had a little bit of its own sort of turnover and turmoil. When the new class of city council came in in early 2022 there were roughly 35 council members who signed up for the progressive caucus. About 15 decided to leave at that point with most of the focus around reducing NYPD size, cutting department of correction budget. The current 20 members are still pretty large out of 51 seats but it's not as many as when they first took office two years ago.
