According to classical theism, that's the view that Aquinas holds and was the view embraced by virtually every Christian up until just recently. Richard Dawkins argues against intelligent design, arguing that eventually science is going to figure out a Darwinian story for these things. And so, be he and Demmskir, their project is only going to fail. But according to sort of a Thomistic understanding, says that in order for God to act, we need to find room in nature.
