Argentina has been going through a harsh economic patch. Inflation reached close to 100% in 2022, with salaries lagging behind ever increasing prices. More than a third of its population is poor and 2.5 million people cannot buy the basic food basket. This context has accelerated the trend of a drop in beef consumption - 47 kilos per person per year.
