We learn our behaviors from what is modeled by our parents. Those behaviors can get passed down in two ways. One is epigenetically, so it changes your genetic coding. In the womb, you will respond in it with a heightened cortisol response to danger. The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors can still have a heightened sense of threat.
