In order to get statistically significant results, you want to have a big difference between the experimental group and the control group. You also want to have reduced variability, so that the statistics will come out to show what with what you found. One way to reduce variability is to make sure that everybody has the same amount of experience on the task. And how do you control that? There's one easy and powerful way to make sure everyone has exactly the same experience in performing the task. So essentially you're studying novices, and you're doing it deliberately. Because of thatte you miss the impact of expertis.
